Jane and Michael Stern are coming to Benaroya Hall Tuesday as part of the Seattle Arts & Lectures series. I wrote a bit on Al Dente about whether the Sterns and their Roadfood writings are still relevant in the age of Yelp. (The answer: Heck yes.)
The last time the Sterns came to Seattle, I had the happy task of trying to share some of Seattle’s best Roadfood bets with them. It was surprisingly tough, as I discussed here.
In the three years since that tour, though, Seattle seems to have added another layer of eating out, a new willingness to expand beyond the fine-dining and into the just plain fine. This time, I’d send the Sterns any number of new places — Lunchbox Laboratory, Skillet, Marination Mobile, just for starters.
Where do you think they should eat? And if you want to dine with them, albeit in fancier digs, they’ll also be speaking at a fund-raising dinner to benefit Arts & Lectures at the Palace Ballroom Monday night.
I would send them to Root Table in Ballard for an example of the Seattle twist on asian food. You also can’t beat the unique interior of the place.
Spring Hill!
If you’re expanding into sit-down meals, check out Joule in Wallingford for sure!
Send them over to the Streamliner in Winslow - they will definitely love it!
How about Paeso in Fremont
How about sending them back to the airport? More than anyone else I’ve heard discuss the Seattle Food Scene, they had the most tepid and shallow comments.
If not Lunchbox Lab, Zippy’s. Their kind of burger place. Or, of course, The Original Pagliacci on the Ave for a slice of Agog tomorrow. I’ll have a free slice waiting for them LOL. (Bourdain loved it.) I love The Sterns, I can’t see them either night, and they should have the opportunity to visit a Seattle institution. If they are doing any radio at KUOW they will be right across the street…..

I vote for Bakery Nouveau in West Seattle.
This is far better than the standard good to excellent Seattle neighborhood bakery — http://www.yelp.com/biz/bakery-nouveau-seattle. As a bakery fanatic, I don’t think there’s any better place in the PNW.
They shouldn’t miss their Twice Baked Croissants but won’t go wrong no matter what they try.
