The last time I had anything to do with an ice cream contest, I saw flavor suggestions like “candied green tomato swirl in Beecher’s Flagship ice cream,” and “Double-churned Gooeyduck Microbrew Tidalslide Surprise.” And we were operating on a completely different level of creativity than the fellows at Spur, who are opening up a competition to create an outstanding ice cream flavor for the Belltown haute spot.
The winner gets a prize worth savoring: A “gastropub” ice cream social with five friends to taste their flavor as interpreted by Brian McCracken and Dana Tough, with paired cocktails by David Nelson. The flavor will then be featured on Spur’s menu in June.
Interested? Here’s the sort of competition you’re up against: Recent flavors have included “Ants on a Log” and “Cigar and Cognac.” To enter, e-mail flavor or theme ideas to firstname.lastname@example.org, under the subject “Spur Ice Cream Idea.” Include your name, phone number, and e-mail address.
And if you win? Just one thing: When you’re picking your five friends for the social, remember you heard about it here.
