A handful of restaurants are offering tax day breaks to lessen the pain. Boom Noodle and Blue C Sushi are offering 15% off the bill at all locations (alcohol excluded), along with $2.50 Sapporo draft beers. Cinnabon will give away free “bites” from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m, P.F. Chang’s offers a 15% discount, and Taco Del Mar will e-mail you a coupon for a free taco if you sign up here. USA Today has a nice list of restaurant deals here, and I liked Ravenna Nation’s local version, which not only reminds us that McCormick & Schmick & Kidd Valley are also offering discounts today, but refers to the P.F. Chang deal by asking “Do you love salty glop that barely resembles Asian food?”
If you’re looking for a more permanent deal, I’ve been meaning to note for two weeks now that The Essential Baking Company, which saw huge increases in the price of its organic wheat flour over the past year, is now seeing what they call a slight price drop. They’re more than passing it on to consumers by offering a hearty 5-10% price break on its artisan breads. Prices have dropped at Essential’s cafes, and the company also lowered wholesale prices to the stores that carry its bread. The markets agreed to pass on the savings to customers, says Essential’s Leah Hadfield, though there are some differences in the pricing between chains.
Did the tax man treat you kindly? If you’ve got enough left to drop on a dinner at Sooke Harbour House, the famed inn near Victoria is offering a chance to win an accompanying free night at the inn, a $305 value. Details here, but, basically, you need to be the first to call or e-mail after 8 a.m. daily to make a reservation for a four-course dinner for two people, giving them the code “PEACEFUL-09.” If you go, be sure to take the garden tour first. Here’s a look at our experiences at Sooke Harbour a few years back.
And now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go finish my taxes.
Ravenna Nation loves this blog, so we were very excited for the mention (and may have emailed our mother about it). Thanks!
Ravennous, that is so nice to hear! I may just alert MY mom to it.
